Oh the insanity of it all...

In 1960 something, my parents wanted to get married in a hurry. My father's peasant frum parents wanted a simple frum wedding with an orthodox rabbi, etc. My mother's high-society frei parents wanted a catered affair with their very nice reform rabbi. How did they solve this dilemma? They had, as my parents called it, "a catered elopement". Meaning they had a frum chuppah with just enough people to make it kosher, and a fancy dinner with all of my mother's parent's friends.

Right now, any elopement, catered or not, sounds like a good idea. The pure logistics of making a wedding, albeit a small second one, in such a short period of time is killing both Mr. Sky-High and I. Even the idea of herding all these children around on the day of the wedding and getting everything we each need to get done ourselves is overwhelming. Work is high-pressure for both of us, and there is no time for personal matters during the day.

I am parsoning out whatever I can to friends and calling in favors where ever I can, but I'm going to be really, really, REALLY glad when this chasunah is over and we can just go home and be husband and wife already.

The only thing that's keeping me from losing my mind is that I know that he's the light at the end of this insanely twist, dark tunnel.

In other news, it appears I made it to the final round of the JIBs in the "Best Personal Blog" and did not make it in the "Best Overall Blog". You can see the results here. Voting will begin on May 9th, and I actually think I might stand a chance of winning in the "Best Personal Blog" category, albeit I agree that the competition is stiff. The big blogs like Treppenwitz and Seraphic Secret will win in other categories as well, but it's worthwhile to check out the rest of the competition. They're all great, well written blogs that touch readers to the core.

After eleven days of dealing with the gigantic behemoth that is PayPal, I gave up on trying to get them to resolve the gifts that readers sent me on April 19th & 20th. If you're one of the original 10 PayPal senders who was affected from those two days, I've sent you an email explaining what happened and how it's being resolved. Malka B in Australia, the email address I have for you keeps bouncing back to me. Please email me at the address on the left and I will shoot you back an email explaining what's happening.

For those of you who still wish to help with the mitzvah of hachnosis chosson v'kallah, send a wedding gift or "tip me" for the enjoyment you get from reading the soap opera that is my life, I am very happy to report that the Amazon Honor System on the left does work, and unlike PayPal, you can choose to remain completely anonymous if you so choose. Plus, if you change your mind (I hope you won't ;) ), it's fully refundable for seven days.

Last week, after I put them to bed, my girls were apparently rough housing in the dark in their room. Big girl was "jumping on the bed and fell down and bumped her head." Like the monkeys. Except Big girl wound up cutting open her face, involving a WHOLE LOT OF BLOOD and requiring an emergency call to Hatzalah (thank you Hatzalah!), a trip to the doctor's office at 9 p.m., a trip to the plastic surgeon in the morning, and more than 10 stitches. That's when I stopped counting because I was starting to feel faint. Today we go back to the plastic surgeon to make sure it, G-d willing, healed properly and to have the stitches removed. Please daven for her. I don't want my baby to have a scar anywhere, much less on her face.

Is that enough of an update? I sure hope so. I don't know when I'll be posting next, so please be patient. I'm sure there will be more insanity to report the next few weeks!
